Nowadays many Residence Permit applications are refused by officials and the applicants are asked to leave Turkey for one legal reason.
We would like to explain this to foreigners to allert them.
Each foreigner enter Turkey on a visa or visa-free basis.
After obtaining a visa, a foreigner has a right to stay in Turkey for period of days.
But there is one rule;
180/90 Days Rule
If a foreigner enter to Turkey, public officials at the entry port will look back in the past 180 days to see if the foreigner spent more than 90 days in Tukey (on the visa or visa-free basis) in Turkey at the port of entry in Turkey.
A foreigner who wishes to stay in Turkey for a longer period of time, MUST apply for a residence permit while their visa is still valid (or within 10 days after expiry of their visa).
For example, a foreigner stays in Turkey 88 of the 90 visa days. Then they leave the country and then re-enter Turkey in the same day. If they wish to leave and enter Turkey within next 90 days, they only have two days to file residence permit application. If they do not book the residence permit appointment within these two days they will be considered illegal for the residence permit even if they still have a valid visa.
Many foreigners do not assume this and it can make it difficult for them to obtain the residence permit.
So if a foreigner is looking to move to Turkey, but also will travel back and forth to Turkey it is necessary for them to file residence permit application as soon as possible.
